Fiona is originally from Seaforde, a village in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. She studied Art & Design for four years, at the University of Ulster (Belfast), where she earned a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Textile Design/Fashion. After graduating, Fiona moved to Kilworth, Co. Cork, for a one-year course in Business.
Since moving to Kilworth, Fiona has stayed involved with arts and crafts, and spent several years teaching adult art classes. Although previously enjoying success with watercolour painting, 5 years ago Fiona began to specialize in painting on silk; her vibrant use of colour and unique style, have lead her to become one of Irelands leading textile artists.
The inspiration for Fionas work stems from her love of colour and pattern. Much of her work is influenced by other cultures, such as African, South American, and Asian peoples, their customs, and their way of life.
In 2000 Fiona opened the doors of Gallery Crafts which is home to her studio. As well as showcasing her paintings it sells the work of travelling international and national craftspeople
